About Tim
Tim has always practised in the area of dispute resolution since admission, particularly civil and commercial litigation. Over more than a decade he has acted in a range of hearings and trials as well as confidential arbitrations and mediations. He typically works with disputes that require a decision maker to impose an outcome or decision, such as a Court or Arbitrator. Tim has acted on cases including:commercial or contract disputes; Trust disputes; civil disputes including property rights; farming disputes; relationship property disputes; defamation; harassment; employment personal grievances; insolvency; debt collection and enforcement of Court orders; and Estate claims.
Tim is approachable and regularly utilises formal mediations to resolve disputes directly wherever appropriate. He understands the stress, cost and time involved in resolving disputes and that the Court process can be daunting and foreign for those involved in a dispute. Tim is an Associate member of the Arbitrators’ and Mediators’ Institute of New Zealand Incorporated and, provided he has not acted for either party to a dispute before and has the agreement of both parties, can also be instructed by other lawyers or parties to act as a Mediator or Arbitrator.
On a voluntary basis, Tim has been a board member of Mid Canterbury Netball Incorporated since November 2020 and he is also available to assist other Mid Canterbury non-profit sporting associations as a panellist for disciplinary matters.
